An independent expertise dedicated to the building envelope
Our independent practice covers upstream project consulting as well as technical assessment, assistance, and monitoring, in both amicable and judicial contexts. We support demanding projects, in new construction as well as renovation, across diverse architectural and technical environments.
In the context of facade renovation of existing buildings, we pay particular attention to the heritage dimension of the structures. Our approach aims to reconcile the preservation of architectural and historical characteristics with contemporary requirements for energy performance and sustainability. Energy renovation of older buildings is indeed a balancing exercise that requires adapting technical solutions to improve thermal performance without altering the heritage value or architectural expression of the facades.
With this in mind, we analyze the constructive and historical specificities of each building to identify optimal solutions, combining energy efficiency, technical longevity, and respect for the built heritage.
The building envelope is not a juxtaposition of elements, but a coordinated system. We adopt a holistic approach, combining scientific knowledge, systems expertise, and sustainability requirements, to ensure that each component contributes to the performance of the whole.
Research, development, and protection of innovative technical solutions

Innovation is an integral part of FX SA’s approach. Our engineers closely follow the evolution of technologies, materials, and methods applied to the building envelope in order to anticipate regulatory and technical developments in the sector.
This dynamic is supported by continuous scientific monitoring, participation in specialized conferences, and the development of innovative solutions in collaboration with Universities of Applied Sciences.
In this context, FX SA has developed and filed several patents, notably in the fields of all-glass facades FELIWALL and design profiles. Beyond the patents, numerous systems have been tested, certified, and implemented in concrete projects, following a logic of custom solutions, technically mastered and adapted to the specific requirements of each project.

Rigor, Independence, and Performance
Every intervention by FX SA is based on a structured and documented methodology. We analyze structures with rigor, taking into account site constraints, regulatory requirements, applicable standards, and performance objectives defined for each project.
For interventions on listed or inventoried buildings, our approach fully integrates heritage conservation requirements. We ensure respect for the architectural characteristics, original materials, and construction techniques specific to these structures, while seeking technical solutions compatible with current sustainability and energy performance challenges.
Our independence guarantees objective technical opinions, without compromise, always oriented toward the quality, sustainability, and reliability of the proposed solutions.
The principles that guide each of our interventions

Independence
Objective and impartial technical opinions, based exclusively on analysis and the project’s best interest.

Technical Rigor
A methodical approach based on science, data, and experience, applied to each project without compromise on quality.

Sustainability and Performance
A long-term vision of building envelope performance, integrating sustainability, reliability, and environmental requirements.

Multi-Criteria Analysis
We offer structured multi-criteria analyses, in which the decision criteria and their relative importance are agreed upon with the project owner. This method enables a transparent and methodical assessment of trade-offs between multiple objectives, identifying the most balanced and coherent solution aligned with the project’s expectations. Multi-criteria analysis is a recognized approach for evaluating alternatives by simultaneously considering several factors, often contrasting, which leads to more thoughtful and justifiable decisions.
Laurent Felix
After Félix Constructions SA and BIFF SA, Laurent Félix now develops FXSA, an EXPERT engineering firm founded on technical expertise and experience gained in the field of the building envelope: all types of facades, windows, and roofing.
“The architect is responsible for beauty”: designing the form, volumes, and aesthetic expression of the building. Their role is to propose a vision that “looks beautiful,” while respecting the major constraints of the program and urban planning rules. Alongside them, “the engineer is responsible for performance” and compliance with standards: they ensure that the design is viable from a thermal, mechanical, and hygrothermal perspective, that the targeted performances are achieved, and that the proposed solutions meet regulatory and sustainability requirements.
